ACTING BOOTCAMP - SAN ANTONIO - 2006

This Workshop is designed to help improve your craft and auditioning skills.  Learning to act is one thing; delivering in the audition room and on the job is entirely another. Becoming an organic actor, one that can respond to all situations should be your goal.  Organic actors are the ones most often hired in today’s marketplace. Work will encompass exercises, technique, movement, scene study, cold reading, on camera, auditioning, and a comprehensive review.

4 CONSECUTIVE DAYS - TBA - 1/2 hr lunch break. For further info and to register for the workshop call Geneva Dooley at 210-857-2585 or email info@fashionfirst.net

WORKSHOP COST: $250.00 for the four-day workshop, or $150.00 for two of the four dys. Workshop space is limited, please register ASAP to reserve your spot.

It is essential to bring your own material to the class. You can select material you're working on for a play, audition, film, or something that interests you and is appropriate to your type. Look at actors you think you are like and pick a scene from their work. You can do this in a variety of ways: pick a scene from play (buy a play), or type out a scene from a film or TV show, or download scripts off the internet. Please bring at least three copies of your scene or monologue to class. Try not to select scenes that include more than two or three people. If you don't have material, find material, that's one of the tasks required to improve your acting. We will examine script analysis, creating character and persona, and how to make and commit to strong bold choices. I'll help you find organic physical behavior, and give you tools to help you get an in-depth understanding of your material. This work will help you find the central “core” of the scene, helping you access your true voice in the part. We'll do exercises that will help you become “present," connect with your material, create real characters, and bring energy to your work. Spontaneity, listening, and timing are all critical elements of acting. My approach combines disciplines that help you apply these critical elements to your craft.
